Emporia Street Cats Club one of ten agencies to receive funding through inaugural Northeast Kansas Animal Welfare Foundation grant award

The Northeast Kansas Animal Welfare Foundation has named the recipients of funding through the agency’s inaugural grant cycle, including one in the local community.

A total of $25,000 is being awarded to ten agencies across the local region including Emporia’s Street Cats Club. The Street Cats Club will be receiving $3,500 in funding.

Those funds will go to support the agency’s trap-neuter-release program, vehicle maintenance and capital improvements. CEO of the Northeast Kansas Animal Welfare Foundation Justin Brokar says in a news release, “we trust that these funds will help these organizations save more pets and have a great impact on animal welfare throughout northeast Kansas.”

Over 125 organizations within 24 counties in the northeastern portion of the state were eligible to apply for the grant. In order to qualify, each organization must be a registered nonprofit 501(c)3 organization and in good standing with both the IRS and the state of Kansas.

Eligible agencies must also be licensed by and in good standing with the Kansas Department of Agriculture.
