Organizers of the inaugural Lolapalooza in downtown Emporia say they are already planning for next year’s event and promise it will be even bigger and better.
That’ll be a tough order, but for all of the right reasons, after the first annual event was deemed a rousing success after it saw a phenomenal local turnout and brought in more than $2,800 to support the Street Cats Club’s Lola Love Fund. The fund was established earlier this year following a significant donation from the fund’s namesake Lola Walker the founder of Purralot Kitty Rescue.
Event organizer and Street Cats Club Board Member Ryann Brooks tells KVOE News they were very happy to honor Walker as her support has allowed the organization to greatly expand its work locally.
Walker says she was honored to be recognized by the organization, but says the true honor is in the work she and others do every day to care for local felines.
The fund supports free spaying and neutering services which is a major component of the Street Cats Club’s mission to help reduce the feral cat population locally. Saturday’s activities included music, art vendors, food trucks, games and opportunities to donate to Street Cats Club.
